Classes

Skittentind Original
Teams of three, men, women or mixed. Anything goes. Prizes for best team overall and best women's team.​

Skittentind Comp
Teams of two, women and men's class. Additional requirements for alpine skills, experience and equipment. Maximum 15 teams.​



 

Skittentind Downhill

Solo Performance!​

Personal equipment

All participant must be equiped with the following:

  • Backpack

  • Transmitter / receiver (457 kHz)

  • Shovel with handle, blade at least 20 * 20 cm, original and unmodified

  • Avalanche probe

  • Helmet (must be on the head during descents)

  • Ski with steel edge

  • Boots (telemark or randonee) with Vibramsole or similar.

  • Poles

  • Skins

  • warm clothes

  • At least 0.5 liters of fluid at the start

  • Gloves and hat

  • cellular phone

  • Individual first aid kit

Rules

 

  • When descending, skins must be removed from skis and boots and binding must be in ski mode.
  • If a team discontinues the race, they must inform personel one the nearest manned checkpoint.
  • Participation is at your own risk.
  • All athletes must provide assistance if an accident occurs.
  • All athletes must carry mandatory equipment during the competition.
  • Team members must go together.
  • A team is finished when the last team member crosses the finish line. There should not be more than       50 feet between the athletes on the team.
  • Athletes may not receive drinks, equipment or assistance from outsiders during the competition.

Participant meeting



The day before the contest there will be held a meeting with a review of the competitions where all participants must be present.

Competition review includes:

 

  • A course description that appears on Overhead, PC, projector or similar. This trail description includes all parts of the track, control, change zones, and any dangerous passages. Including how skins should be taken on and off, and how the participants should move in the different sections of the course (on foot, with skis on backpack etc).
  • Weather forecast that includes temperature, wind and precipitation.
  • Revision of equipment
  • Security
  • Program for competition day will be presented at the participant meeting the day before the competition.

Track: start / finish / control points etc.

All information of the track and restrictions are given on meeting participant.

Safety

Ski mountaineering as a competition is arranged in demanding alpine environement. Participant go with a high speed for a long time and ski at high speed on light equipment. There are many risk factors so that organizers are doing their utmost to prevent accidents.

Participants must have sufficient expertise and experience to travel comfortably in these environments. Everyone must take responsibility for their own safety.

Safety instructions and orders issued by the organizer must be followed.

The organizer may at any time remove participants from the competition without further reason.
